Overview

Sanjay Bansal is the co-managing partner of our Los Angeles office. He focuses his practice on labor and employment law and is widely regarded by clients for his attention to detail, objectivity, and empathy. He represents clients in wage and hour litigation including collective actions, class actions and matters under California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) Mr. Bansal has litigated throughout federal and state courts as well as before administrative agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH), and in front of the California Labor Commissioner.  He has prevailed at trial and in multiple hearings including administrative decisions.

In addition to his wage and hour practice, he has extensive experience in defending employers in connection with a wide variety of employment law claims, including claims for wrongful termination, sexual harassment, age, race, gender and disability discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower claims, and unfair business practices. His experience includes advising business on all matters of employment issues including litigation, investigations, audits, policies, risk mitigation, and compliance. 

Mr. Bansal has served as a Judge Advocate with the United States Army Reserve since 2009. He  returned in June 2022 from an overseas military deployment where he held a leadership position and managed a team of attorneys.  He was promoted to the rank of major in 2017 and will be under consideration for lieutenant colonel in 2023. Through his military service, Bansal has served as lead defense counsel in numerous actions involving soldiers accused of misconduct in matters including allegations of sexual misconduct, fraud, and narcotics matters, successfully receiving defense verdicts.  He has received several awards, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Army Service Ribbon.   

Mr. Bansal has served as a speaker, panel member, moderator, and employment subject matter expert across the country. In addition to being an attorney, he is a licensed real estate broker and notary.  

Previously practicing at the firm from 2011 to 2018, Bansal returns to Kaufman Dolowich’s growing labor and employment group after four years of solo practice as a plaintiff’s attorney at his firm, Bansal Law, PC.
