Mark Carver

Overview

Partner Mark C. Carver focuses his law practice on employment law, complex civil and commercial litigation, and casualty defense.

He represents and advises business owners on legal issues that arise from the employer/employee relationship, including wage and hour laws, disability leave laws, workplace harassment, employee discrimination, and wrongful discharge. He regularly represents employers before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Louisiana Commission on Human Rights.

Mr. Carver is a successful litigator for private businesses, public entities and municipalities, sole practitioners, and an array of commercial litigation matters. He is also a proactive counselor for companies developing and implement policies and programs to effectively respond to employee complaints, prior to escalating into litigation. In addition, Mr. Carver counsels clients on many day-to-day workplace issues and how to prevent claims from arising, and he is also well-versed in the numerous federal and state employment regulations arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic, including planning for and addressing issues that arise when workers return to the workplace.

Within commercial litigation, Mr. Carver practices in the area of general litigation, directors and officers liability, and employment practices defense. In addition, he defends against casualty claims. Mr. Carver has also represented national and local businesses in various practice areas including civil litigation, torts, commercial and complex business litigation. In addition, he has handled various types of insurance defense to include claims asserted against businesses, officers and directors, and other professionals.

Mr. Carver’s unique background provides him with extensive knowledge and understanding of the law to meet client needs. After 21 years of distinguished service, Mr. Carver honorably retired from the US Army Reserves in 2006 at the rank of Major where he most recently served as a JAG Officer in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps.

In addition, since 2003 Mr. Carver has volunteered as an Assistant Bar Examiner for the Louisiana Supreme Court’s Committee on Bar Admissions. In 2009, New Orleans City Business Magazine honored Mr. Carver by recognizing him as one of the top 50 attorneys in the New Orleans area and presented him with its Leadership in Law award.
