Jessica Shafer focuses her practice on the areas of labor and employment law, commercial litigation, and data privacy.

Ms. Shafer represents employers in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies regarding discrimination, harassment, retaliation, breaches of contract, and wrongful termination. She also handles complex wage and hour class action litigation, as well as collective actions under the California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Ms. Shafer counsels employers regarding workplace investigations, wage and hour compliance, and payroll practices, and she drafts employee policy manuals and handbooks.

Ms. Shafer also represents clients in commercial litigation in both state and federal courts involving unfair business practices, fraud, contract disputes, product disparagement and defamation, and trade secret misappropriation. She has participated in multiple jury and bench trials and has significant experience in the mediation and arbitration of commercial cases.

Additionally, Ms. Shafer assists clients in the technology and finance industries in navigating and complying with state and federal privacy laws and regulations, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requirements, and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). She also represents clients in regulatory investigations and inquiries by the FTC and other US and global government regulators, agencies, and bodies.
