Overview

Christopher J. Turano, Esq. focuses his practice in commercial litigation, labor and employment law, general liability, and professional liability. He also defends clients in appeals, and in matters of general civil litigation.

Mr. Turano’s experience in complex labor and employment litigation and commercial litigation matters involves representing private sector and public entity clients in lawsuits involving multi-million dollar New Jersey CEPA whistleblower claims, state and federal discrimination claims, civil rights claims, restrictive covenant disputes, state and federal civil rights actions, wrongful termination claims, Fair Labor Standards Act collective action wage lawsuits, New Jersey Wage and Hour Law disputes, breach of contract claims (including disputes regarding employment contracts), employee manual disputes, SEC investigations of potential Dodd-Frank Act violations, UCC disputes, foreclosure litigation, partnership disputes, general business litigation and defamation lawsuits involving privacy torts.

Mr. Turano has tried multiple cases to verdict in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division, and has experience arguing matters before appellate courts. In addition, Mr. Turano has extensive experience conducting litigation in federal court, particularly the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.

In addition, Mr. Turano has land use experience, including preparing and filing multiple residential and commercial land use applications with municipal Zoning Boards of Adjustment and Planning Boards and appearing at board hearings throughout New Jersey to advocate on behalf of clients with respect to those projects. Likewise, he has had experience in transactional law drafting, reviewing and analyzing residential and commercial leases, contracts, settlement and release agreements, non-competition agreements.

In addition, Mr. Turano has published multiple articles on developing areas of the law in the fields in which he practices including a New Jersey Law Journal article analyzing an employer’s ability in New Jersey to drug test, terminate or otherwise discipline an employee arising from the use of medically prescribed cannabis.

Mr. Turano is an active member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and volunteers to serve as the Vice President of his homeowners’ association.
