Posted Apr 14, 2023

BLUE BELL, Pa. (April 14,  2023) – Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck LLP (KD), a leading national law firm, today announces the retirement of Name Partner Philip R. Voluck, effective April 1, 2023. Voluck maintained a successful labor and employment practice for more than 40 years and played an integral role in the Firm’s progression from a boutique New York law firm to a full-service, national firm with a wide range of practices.

“Philip joined us in 2000, and opened the Firm’s first Pennsylvania office, an important milestone, marking the beginning of the Firm’s rapid geographical and practice expansion,” said Michael Kaufman, firmwide co-managing partner. “He is a prominent labor and employment law attorney and has long been a recognized leader in his field in Pennsylvania and nationwide.”

Voluck practiced employment practices liability defense, with a particular emphasis on handling claims of employment discrimination, public access litigation, retaliation, and wrongful discharge. His practice included representing insurance carriers and their insureds as well as private companies before many federal and state courts and most federal and state agencies, including the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, U.S. Department of Labor, National Labor Relations Board and the Occupational Safety and Health Agency, and he litigated employment claims in venues nationwide. Voluck also advised clients on workplace issues such as employee discipline and discharge, layoffs, and recalls, and was well-versed in evolving employment laws that arose out of the COVID-19 pandemic, and how they applied to the business community. He also defended businesses sued under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), regarding claims their websites are alleged to be inaccessible to the disabled.

During Voluck’s tenure he served as a practice group leader of the labor and employment practice group, as well as co-managing partner for the Blue Bell Office, a role he held for 15 years. In addition, Voluck was a dedicated mentor to attorneys firmwide and utilized his gifts and resources to give back to his community. He has been an active and successful fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; is a past chair of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Annual Golf Classic; served as a volunteer lawyer for indigent musicians via Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts; and previously served as the Philadelphia On-Site Legal Consultant for Live Aid.

“We thank Philip for the impact he’s had on the Firm, the legal profession, and the community, and for mentoring others to continue that legacy,” said Ivan J. Dolowich, firmwide co-managing partner.
