Kaufman Dolowich Expands Presence in NY Metro Area With Office in Westchester: COVID-19 Pandemic A Key Factor in New Office Opening

Posted Apr 26, 2021

(April 26, 2021, Westchester County, New York) — Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck LLP (KD) is expanding its presence in the New York metropolitan area with the opening of an office in Westchester, its fourth office in the Northeast. The move strengthens KD’s ability to represent the robust business and insurance community in Westchester County and Connecticut and responds to an evolving office environment stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.

KD, which has 12 offices nationwide, has offices on Long Island, New York City and New Jersey in the NY metropolitan area. KD has numerous clients located in Westchester and Connecticut and attorneys who live in the region. Michael L. Zigelman and Mary Jo Barry, who are co-managing partners of the New York City office, will co-manage the Westchester County office as well. Attorneys and staff from New York will utilize the Westchester office for client meetings and case preparation. Martin Flannery, senior counsel, will be based in Westchester. KD also plans to open an office in Oakland, CA, to join Northern California offices in San Francisco and Sonoma.

“With all the talk of reducing office space for a post-pandemic hybrid workforce, while this may seem counterintuitive, we believe the pandemic has demonstrated the need to be closer to where our clients and attorneys reside,” said Zigelman. “An office in Westchester allows us to better serve our clients who live and work in Westchester County and Connecticut who are more comfortable with shorter commuting times. The office also gives us a better opportunity to expand key practices such as insurance coverage, employment practices liability, commercial litigation and private client business in this growing community.”

“We are thrilled Manhattan is coming to life again and our office there is thriving, however, the office environment is evolving, and it is critical to have workplace options for our clients and attorneys,” said Barry. “Depending on need and circumstance, our area clients and attorneys can meet in Manhattan, on Long Island, in New Jersey and now in Westchester.”

John Mancebo, a KD partner whose practice focuses on representing businesses in broad range of employment matters, plans to spend considerable time in the Westchester office. He noted, “I work with a lot of Westchester based businesses and having local legal representation is very important to them. A physical presence in Westchester will enable us to better serve local businesses and expand our practice.”

KD’s new 2381 square foot office is located at 1025 Westchester Avenue, Suite 315, White Plains, NY 10604, 914-688-6002.
