Trustee filed $35 million claim against convicted financial fraudster’s insurers

Four insurance companies were right to deny a $35 million claim filed by a bankruptcy trustee handling the dissolution of a company run by convicted Los Angeles fraudster Ezri Namvar, a federal judge found Monday.
U.S. District Judge Dolly M. Gee in the Central District of California granted summary judgment to the insurance companies and their lawyers at Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck LLP and Sedgwick LLP, ruling that Namvar’s company, the Namco Financial Exchange, lied on its insurance applications about whether it segregated client money from its operating funds.
Namvar, a former real estate mogul, is now serving time in federal prison for wire fraud and stealing millions from clients. The company, where he served as CEO, facilitated the tax exchange of properties…
