The FBI estimates the cost of insurance fraud at nearly $30 billion per year.

This is a staggering cost that the industry and its consumers are forced to absorb, and nowhere is it more pervasive than in general liability litigation. Although a GL claim may appear legitimate on the surface, assigned defense counsel must be wary and not simply accept the plaintiff’s tale of woe. To the contrary, the role of defense counsel is to work closely with the claims professionals to expose fraud.
