Iram P. Valentin represents clients in all aspects of Complex Civil and Commercial Litigation matters including appeals and jury trials in state and federal court. He represents insurance companies, third party administrators, insurance brokers and agents, title agencies and their agents, attorneys and law firms, mortgage brokers, financial advisors, petroleum dealers, trucking companies, school boards, municipalities and municipal agencies.

Mr. Valentin also handles Complex Litigation in construction, environmental matters, products liability, and Labor and Employment Law on Behalf of Management.

In Bergen v. Able Energy, Inc., 2009 WL 222943, Mr. Valentin represented a regional energy company that sold heating oil, diesel fuels, HVAC services and propane gas against personal injury claims brought by employees in connection with a propane explosion.  The Appellate Division affirmed the grant of summary judgment in favor of the employer and affirmed the finding that the employees' claims against employer were barred by the exclusivity provision of the Workers' Compensation Act.  The Appellate Division did not find that the employer committed an intentional wrong, despite the fact that 1) the employees were injured as a result of a propane gas explosion during the course of an illegal truck-to-truck transfer of propane and 2) the employer received multiple citations for the illegal transfer.

In 2008, Mr. Valentin served as co-counsel in a legal malpractice defense action, wherein the court allowed the defendants to prosecute the plaintiffs for committing a fraud on the court.  An eight-person jury unanimously found that defendants met their burden of proof by clear and convincing evidence that the plaintiffs altered a document produced in discovery.  The court dismissed the action with prejudice.

Mr. Valentin was one of  New Jersey Super Lawyers Rising Stars 2009. He wrote Title IX: A Brief History, Policy Paper, WEEA Equity Resource Center, 1997.

Prior to joining KDVG, Mr. Valentin served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph P. Perfilio, Superior Court of New Jersey, Union County.  He also interned for the Honorable Denny Chin, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and the New York Stock Exchange, Division of Enforcement.

Mr. Valentin earned his Juris Doctor from the Fordham University School of Law.  He was an inaugural member of the Fordham Journal of Corporate and Financial Law, earning the award "Most Outstanding Commitment" for his work as a Notes and Articles Editor.  The Journal has been cited by the United States Supreme Court. While at Fordham, he also participated in the Securities Arbitration Clinic. He earned his Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he was a member of the Honors Program.

Mr. Valentin is admitted to practice in New Jersey and before the United States District Court, District of New Jersey. He is a graduate of the Morris Pashman American Inn of Court and has received intensive training in trial skills from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.  He is also a member of the Bergen County and American Bar Associations.
