Janene Marasciullo is a trial attorney with extensive first-chair experience litigating complex commercial cases, securities disputes, employment disputes, and regulatory enforcement matters, including securities, tax, and international trade disputes.  In addition, she has represented clients during grand jury investigations, conducted internal investigations, and assisted corporations in making voluntary disclosures to Federal regulatory agencies.   Since joining KDVG in 2007, Janene has successfully represented financial firms, insurance companies, and financial professionals in commercial cases, customer disputes, employment disputes, and during regulatory inquiries.  In addition, she counsels financial firms and professionals on compliance matters.  

Janene draws on her diverse experience to assist her clients in resolving matters efficiently.  Before joining KDVG, Janene gained diverse experience in both the public and private sectors.  She served as a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice for nine years, where she successfully litigated a wide variety of complex commercial, tax, regulatory, and civil fraud cases from inception through appeal.  In the process, Janene won multiple performance awards, including the Civil Division’s Special Commendation Award for her work on the largest government contract dispute ever filed against the United States.  In addition, she successfully obtained injunctions against promoters of abusive tax shelters during her tenure at the Tax Division.  Janene also spent several years at NASD, the predecessor to FINRA, where she served in both the Enforcement Department and the Office of General Counsel.  At NASD, she investigated violations of the Federal securities laws and helped formulate NASD policies and practices on cutting edge issues.  Janene received NASD’s President’s Award for her work on the Joint NASD/Industry Task Force on Mutual Fund Breakpoints.  

In addition, Janene served as Senior Corporate Counsel at a major international conglomerate, where she managed the company’s litigation portfolio and its international trade compliance program and worked as an associate in a Washington, D.C. litigation firm.  Janene began her career as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable D. Brooks Smith, while he was a judge on the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.   She is admitted to the bar in New York and Washington, D.C.

Janene is a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College.  She received her Juris Doctor, with honors, from George Washington University, where she was a member of The George Washington Journal of International Law and Economics and authored, “Removability and the Rule of Law: The Independence of the Solicitor General," 57 George Washington Law Review 750.
